Story
Synopsis
Earth has been bombarded into a radioactive ruin, and humanity has roughly a year left underground before extinction. The battleship Yamato, rebuilt with alien technology, is dispatched on a 148,000 light-year round trip to retrieve a device that can restore the planet. Between hostile fleets, a hard deadline, and a crew whose personal losses give the mission weight, the voyage becomes both a war story and a meditation on whether humanity deserves the rescue it's chasing. The scale is enormous, but the story stays anchored to the people aboard.
