1. Introduction
LifeHaki is a social platform for anime fans. We let you track the anime you watch, browse a catalog of anime titles, characters, studios, staff, episodes and seasons, write reviews and ratings, build and share lists, and interact with other members through comments, likes and follows.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. It is written to comply with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) and, where applicable, other data-protection laws.
By creating an account or otherwise using LifeHaki, you confirm that you have read and understood this Policy. Where the DPDP Act requires your consent, we will ask for it separately and clearly at the point of collection.
For the purposes of the DPDP Act, LifeHaki is the Data Fiduciary that determines the purpose and means of processing your personal data, and you are the Data Principal.
2. Who we are and how to contact us
Data Fiduciary: Life Haki Contact: the Life Haki Support team, reachable at [email protected].
You can contact us at any time to ask a question about this Policy, to exercise your rights, or to make a complaint.
3. Who can use LifeHaki (age requirements)
LifeHaki is intended for users aged 13 and above.
Under the DPDP Act, any individual under 18 is treated as a child, and processing a child’s personal data generally requires verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian. Accordingly:
- If you are under 13, you may not create an account or use the Platform.
- If you are between 13 and 17, you may use the Platform only with the involvement and verifiable consent of your parent or legal guardian, and by using LifeHaki you confirm that such consent has been given.
- We do not knowingly undertake tracking, behavioural monitoring, or targeted advertising directed at children, and we do not knowingly serve personalised ads to users we know to be under 18.
If we learn that we have collected a child’s data without the required parental consent, we will delete it. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided us data without consent can contact at [email protected] to request deletion.

6. Advertising and affiliate links
LifeHaki intends to display advertising and to include affiliate links.
- Advertising: We may work with third-party advertising partners who use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Some ads may be contextual (based on the page you are viewing) and some may be personalised (based on your inferred interests). We will only allow personalised advertising where you have given consent through our cookie/consent tool, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.
- Affiliate links: Some links to third-party stores or services may be affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you make a purchase. This does not change the price you pay. Affiliate relationships are disclosed on relevant pages and in our Disclaimer.
- Third-party advertisers and networks are independent controllers of any data they collect through their own technologies. Their use of data is governed by their own privacy policies. We list our current advertising and analytics partners in the Cookie Policy.
7. How we share your data
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as described here:
- Publicly, by your choice: Your username, avatar, public profile, reviews, ratings, lists, comments and similar contributions are visible to other users and the public by design. Please treat anything you post publicly as public.
- Service providers: Hosting, storage, email delivery, analytics, security and content-delivery providers who process data on our behalf under contract and only on our instructions.
- Advertising and affiliate partners: As described in Section 6, subject to your consent for personalised advertising.

- Business transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your data may be transferred, and we will notify you of any change in control or use of your data.
8. International transfers
We are based in India and process data in India and in other countries where our service providers operate. Where data is transferred outside India, we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected in line with this Policy and applicable law. The DPDP Act permits transfers except to countries specifically restricted by the Government of India.
9. How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as long as needed for the purposes in this Policy. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records to:
- comply with legal, tax, or regulatory obligations,
- resolve disputes or enforce our agreements, or
- maintain security and prevent abuse.
Public contributions (such as reviews or list contributions) may be retained in de-identified form, or attributed to a deleted/anonymous user, to preserve the integrity of community discussions, unless you request their removal.
10. Your rights under the DPDP Act
As a Data Principal, you have the right to:
- Access – get a summary of the personal data we process about you and how we process it.
- Correction and updating – correct or complete inaccurate or incomplete data (you can edit most of this directly in your account settings).
- Erasure – request deletion of your personal data, subject to the retention exceptions in Section 9.
- Withdraw consent – withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out.

- Nominate – nominate another individual to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity.
To exercise any right, contact at [email protected], or use the tools in your account settings. We will respond within the timeframes required by law. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including: password hashing, session-based authentication, CSRF protection on actions that change data, output escaping to prevent injection, separate access scopes for administrators and users, rate limiting, and login-attempt monitoring. Access to personal data internally is limited to those who need it, and staff and contributor actions are recorded in an audit log.
No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to affect you, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.
12. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality, security, analytics and advertising. Details, categories, and your choices are set out in our separate Cookie Policy, which forms part of this Privacy Policy.
13. Third-party links and content
LifeHaki links to and displays references to third-party works, stores, and websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties. This Policy applies only to LifeHaki.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you through the Platform or by email. Your continued use of LifeHaki after an update means you accept the revised Policy, except where fresh consent is required by law.
