About the studio
Fuji TV has been part of Japanese broadcasting since November 18, 1957, founded by Nobutaka Shikanai and Shigeo Mizuno, with broadcasts starting March 1, 1959. Based in the unmistakable ball shaped headquarters in Odaiba, Tokyo, Fuji TV is one of Japan's major terrestrial networks and part of the larger Fujisankei Communications Group, which also owns Pony Canyon. Anime fans probably know it best for noitaminA, the late night programming block launched in April 2005 that became a launchpad for more artistic, adult leaning anime like Honey and Clover, Nana, and Paranoia Agent. *A whole block built around the idea that anime could be prestige TV, not just Saturday morning cartoons.* Detective Conan also aired on Fuji TV for years. In 2008, the company reorganized under holding company Fuji Media Holdings. Nearly 70 years on, its ball shaped tower is still a fitting symbol for a network that's never been afraid to be a little different.
