Story
Synopsis
The Medicine Seller wanders through Edo-era Japan, encountering vengeful spirits called mononoke that can only be exorcised once he understands their Form, Truth, and Reason, three pieces of a puzzle he must uncover before he can act. Each arc drops him into a new haunted setting, from a merchant ship to a wealthy household, where human cruelty and repressed grief have curdled into something supernatural and dangerous. The stories blend genuine horror with sharp social commentary about the injustices, often against women, that give these spirits their terrible power.
