Story
Synopsis
William James Moriarty continues his campaign to dismantle Britain's rigid class system by removing its most corrupt aristocrats, an operation requiring elaborate planning and absolute moral commitment to methods he knows damn him. This part brings Sherlock Holmes properly into his orbit, turning the pair into intellectual counterparts circling the same crimes from opposite ends. The story treats Moriarty as a genuine idealist whose crimes serve a coherent political vision, which makes the eventual confrontation between the two men considerably more complicated than a straightforward hero-and-villain arrangement.

Adapted from Ryosuke Takeuchi and Hikaru Miyoshi's manga by Production I.G, Moriarty the Patriot reimagines Arthur Conan Doyle's arch-villain as a revolutionary responding to genuine Victorian class inequality. Its inversion of the Holmes mythology, casting Moriarty as protagonist and treating his crimes as political action, gave the series a distinctive hook that earned it a strong following.
