Yomiuri TV Enterprise, now rebranded as YTE as of May 2024, started life May 1, 1970 as Yomi Pack Co., Ltd., taking the Yomiuri TV Enterprise name in April 1987. Based in Osaka, it's a subsidiary of Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation (ytv), and its role is rights management and merchandising rather than production: handling copyrights and licensed goods tied to content aired on ytv, expanding into anime merchandise production in 2002 and anime production involvement from 2008. *A broadcaster's merchandising arm quietly becoming an anime industry player in its own right.* It's also long handled sports merchandising for teams like the Yomiuri Giants and Hanshin Tigers.
