Tatsunoko Production and Digital Frontier produced this full 3D CGI theatrical action film, which premiered in Japanese cinemas in February 2018. Directed by Jun Matsumoto with scripts by Jun Kumagai, the film served as the cinematic climax to Tatsunoko's fifty-fifth anniversary cross-property television series. Featuring high-energy combat choreography, detailed mechanical textures, and explosive visual effects, the feature brought together four iconic Showa-era heroic franchises in a contemporary Hollywood-style superhero blockbuster. Veteran voice talents Tomokazu Seki and Takahiro Sakurai led the dynamic ensemble cast, celebrating Tatsunoko's rich historical anime legacy.
It still has the fun factor of mashing up classic shows and characters in a new way, but the plot is thinner and the ending a little inconclusive. Mostly it just feels like the TV series did the concept better.
