Story
Synopsis
In the aftermath of Shibuya, a merciless new conflict engulfs Japan: the Culling Game, a twisted contest engineered by the traitor Noritoshi Kamo that forces sorcerers, ancient and modern alike, into forced combat across scattered colonies. Yuji Itadori, still crushed by guilt over the mass casualties in Shibuya, refuses to return to Jujutsu High and instead teams up with Choso to handle the fallout on his own terms. As newly resurrected legends and desperate newcomers collide, old scores demand settling, and the fight to free Gojo becomes more urgent than ever.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Shimetsu Kaiyuu - Zenpen, known as The Culling Game Part 1, is the first cour of the anime's third season, based on Gege Akutami's manga and animated by MAPPA, airing from January to March 2026. It continues directly from the devastating Shibuya Incident arc, adapting one of the manga's most sprawling and high-stakes stretches, introducing a wide cast of new sorcerers while raising the stakes toward the franchise's endgame. Anticipation for this season was especially high given how the Shibuya arc reshaped the entire series' status quo.
