Synopsis
Years after his last major battle, Ichigo Kurosaki is pulled back into action when the Wandenreich, an army of Quincies led by the terrifyingly powerful Yhwach, launches an all-out invasion of the Soul Society. Yhwach's forces do not just fight Soul Reapers, they can steal their Bankai outright, turning the very source of a warrior's strength into a weapon against them. Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War adapts the final arc of Tite Kubo's manga, animated by Studio Pierrot after the original 2004 to 2012 anime ended well before the manga's conclusion. Releasing in staggered cours from 2022 through 2026, the final part premiered in July 2026, bringing the story to its complete end more than a decade after fans first started asking for it. The revival was met with widespread acclaim for its animation quality and faithfulness to Kubo's source material, and is frequently credited with proving that long-dormant franchises can return and land their ending on their own terms.
