Story

Synopsis

Film: Gold takes the Straw Hats to Gran Tesoro, a dazzling, city-sized entertainment ship, part casino, part country, ruled by the fabulously wealthy Gild Tesoro. Lured by glamour and the promise of easy riches, the crew quickly learns the house always wins: Tesoro rigs everything with his gold-controlling powers and a stranglehold on the law. After getting fleeced, Luffy and company mount an elaborate heist to bring down the golden emperor and free those trapped under his thumb. It is a slick, stylish adventure full of high-roller spectacle, disguises, and gambling-den intrigue, one of the franchise's most polished and popular theatrical outings.

One Piece Film: Gold premiered in 2016 and was produced by Toei Animation with heavy creative involvement from series creator Eiichiro Oda, who supervised the story and designed key characters. It arrived as the thirteenth One Piece film and was a big commercial success, praised for its lavish animation and casino-heist energy. While it is officially a non-canon side story, Oda's hands-on role gave it richer detail and tighter world-building than the average movie.
