Araragi's story ends, but the girls he saved continue.
With Koyomi Araragi's high school chapter finally, truly over, this installment shifts its lens onto the young women whose lives once revolved around him, following Nadeko Sengoku's uneasy attempt to build a life and career after abandoning her identity as a snake god, and Yotsugi Ononoki navigating her own strange existence. Their struggles reveal just how much these characters have grown independent of Araragi's shadow, deepening arcs the franchise had only sketched in earlier seasons. It keeps the Monogatari series' trademark dense wordplay and striking visuals while widening its lens toward genuine, hard-won maturity.
Every arc, movie, and side story in the order Nisioisin actually built them to be watched, mysteries preserved, surprises intact.
The one that starts it all. Koyomi meets four, then more, girls with supernatural problems. Essential, obviously.
A clip-show recap bundled with the Blu-rays. Skippable unless you genuinely need the refresher.
Koyomi's little sisters take center stage. Divisive among fans, but you need it for what comes after.
A prequel arc explaining how Koyomi and Tsubasa actually met. Short, sweet, and quietly important.
Five arcs, five different girls, and the show at its most emotionally ambitious. A real high point.
Suruga's arc, deliberately held back from the main Second Season broadcast. Don't skip it, it closes a loop.
Not actually Monogatari, this is a Madoka Magica rerelease with a bonus scene Nisioisin wrote himself. Fun trivia, not required.
Short, tense, and a genuine turning point for Koyomi. Don't let the "special" label fool you into skipping it.
The story starts circling back on itself here. Things you brushed off earlier start mattering a lot.
A set of short vignettes filling in small gaps. Charming, low stakes, easy to watch in one sitting.
A brief recap tied to Koyomimonogatari. Mostly for completionists.
Here's where the story actually begins, chronologically. Watched this late on purpose, so everything you've picked up so far pays off.
The trilogy's tonal peak. Gorgeous, brutal, and worth the wait.
Where it all clicks into place. The most essential piece of "bonus" content in the whole franchise.
A recut compilation of the trilogy into a single film. Nice for a one-sitting rewatch, not required if you've already seen Parts 1 to 3.
The story's real endgame. Everything that's been simmering finally comes to a head.
A quick recap special released alongside. Purely optional.
Billed as the true final chapter, and it earns that label. This is the actual ending.
A short behind-the-scenes promo from the studio. Fun for fans, not essential viewing.
The newest chapter, picking the story back up years later. Proof this franchise still has more to say.
The latest side story, released right alongside Off & Monster Season. As current as this list gets.
