Synopsis
Madoka Kaname is offered the chance to become a magical girl and have any wish granted by the mysterious creature Kyubey, a deal that seems too good to be true because it absolutely is. As her friend Sayaka takes the deal instead, Madoka watches the true, horrifying cost of magical girl contracts unfold, forcing her to reconsider everything the genre usually promises about power, sacrifice, and happy endings. The story methodically dismantles typical magical girl tropes, replacing them with genuine dread and devastating consequence. Nothing about the genre's usual comfort survives what comes next.
