Story

Synopsis

Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura, known as Okarun, get into a dumb argument about whether aliens or ghosts are real, and decide to settle it by investigating both, a decision that immediately backfires when they encounter something genuinely supernatural. What starts as a dare spirals into a chaotic, high-energy adventure involving cursed spirits, alien abductions, and an unlikely bond forming between two teens who can't stand each other at first. The show balances horror, comedy, and a surprisingly sincere central relationship with relentless visual inventiveness.

Adapted from Yukinobu Tatsu's manga, Dan Da Dan quickly became one of the standout anime of its release year, produced by Science SARU with a distinctive, elastic animation style that matches the story's constant tonal whiplash between horror, comedy, and romance.
