Synopsis

The fierce gastronomic debate between the Touzai News Ultimate Menu and the Teito Times Supreme Menu enters a captivating new chapter. Maverick culinary reporter Shiro Yamaoka and his dedicated partner Yuko Kurita travel across Japan to research traditional agriculture, artisanal fermentation methods, and forgotten culinary techniques. Standing opposite them is Shiro's formidable, estranged father, ceramicist and gourmet titan Yuzan Kaibara, whose uncompromising standards push Japanese cuisine to exquisite perfection. With young corporate president Ichiro Dan entering the fray as a charismatic mediator and potential romantic rival, every banquet becomes a clash of philosophies, craftsmanship, and family healing.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Returning to television screens thirty-five years after the conclusion of the original 1988 anime run, *Shin Oishinbo* adapts the seminal gourmet manga written by Tetsu Kariya and illustrated by Akira Hanasaki. Produced by Shin-Ei Animation with direction by Kenichi Nishida, the series features Yohei Azakami as Shiro Yamaoka, Hitomi Sasaki as Yuko Kurita, and Akio Otsuka succeeding his late father Chikao Otsuka in the iconic role of Yuzan Kaibara. The production revitalizes one of Japan's most celebrated culinary dramas, blending cultural food history with generational family drama.
