Synopsis

Arata Kaizaki's year in the ReLIFE experiment, which returned him to a teenage body and a high school classroom, reaches its conclusion, and the terms of the program mean that everyone he has grown close to will forget him entirely when it ends. The final arc deals with what that costs, both for Arata and for Chizuru Hishiro, whose own participation complicates the arrangement considerably. The series closes on the question of whether a year that nobody remembers still counts for anything. Every relationship he built becomes something only he will remember afterward.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Adapted from Yayoiso's webcomic by TMS Entertainment, ReLIFE built its premise around a genuinely relatable adult anxiety, the sense of having wasted formative years and wanting a second attempt with adult perspective. Its final arc was released as a batch of episodes concluding the story, giving the adaptation a complete ending rather than leaving it unresolved. The series earned a warm reception for treating both adolescent and adult regret seriously, and for a conclusion that refuses the easiest emotional resolution. Its premise taps a regret that most adult viewers recognize immediately.
