About the studio
TMS Entertainment traces back to 1964, when Yutaka Fujioka founded it as Tokyo Movie. It became Tokyo Movie Shinsha in 1977 and TMS Entertainment around the turn of the millennium, making it one of the oldest anime studios still operating today. *Old enough to have watched the whole industry grow up around it.* TMS is the studio behind Lupin the Third and Detective Conan, two franchises that basically never stopped running, and in its early years, it employed a young Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata before they went on to found Studio Ghibli. Based in Tokyo, TMS became affiliated with Sega through a capital alliance in 1992 and is now a Sega subsidiary. Sixty plus years in, it's rare to find a studio with a résumé this long, and rarer still to find one that helped train the people who'd go on to define animation for a whole generation.
