Synopsis

Saitama can defeat any opponent with a single punch, which sounds great until you realize it's made every fight in his life completely unsatisfying. Bored out of his mind, he wanders through a city crawling with monsters, meteor-sized threats, and rival heroes, searching for anything that might actually challenge him. Along the way he picks up Genos, a cyborg disciple desperate to learn his secret, and gets tangled in the absurd bureaucracy of the Hero Association, which keeps underrating him despite him saving the day, again and again, off camera and unnoticed by anyone who matters.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Based on ONE's webcomic, later redrawn by Yusuke Murata, this Madhouse adaptation became an instant sensation for its rare combination of gorgeous, kinetic fight animation and genuinely sharp comedy about power, fame, and being taken for granted. Its first season is still held up as a benchmark for shonen action visuals, particularly the Saitama vs. Boros finale. The show's satire of hero rankings and social clout struck a chord well beyond typical anime audiences, turning "one punch" into shorthand for effortlessly overpowered characters across pop culture ever since.
