Synopsis

Ginko encounters Kaya, a young girl with branches growing from her body, and discovers she has become the lord of a thriving mountain, an unusual role typically reserved for animals rather than humans. As her worried older brother searches for the sister he lost during a storm years earlier, the film unfolds Kaya's quiet, aching dilemma: stay bound to her duty maintaining the mountain's fragile balance, or return to the human family that never stopped looking for her. It is gentle, melancholic, and true to the franchise's core belief that not every conflict needs a villain to feel genuinely moving.

Mushishi Zoku Shou: Suzu no Shizuku, released as Bell Drops, is a theatrical film adapting the final arc of Yuki Urushibara's manga, animated by Artland, and released in 2015 as a conclusion to the Mushishi Zoku Shou revival seasons. It brought the acclaimed franchise's television storyline to a fitting, quiet close, staying true to the series' meditative tone rather than manufacturing a dramatic final battle. Longtime fans and critics praised it as a graceful send-off for Ginko's journey, closing out one of anime's most distinctive and beloved slow-burn franchises.
