Synopsis

Nanami Momozono is still adjusting to her accidental godhood and her complicated relationship with Tomoe, the fox familiar who resents being bound to her almost as much as he has come to care about her. This season deepens their dynamic while expanding the supernatural politics surrounding the shrine, introducing new gods, obligations, and threats that Nanami is entirely unqualified to handle. The romantic tension advances meaningfully, and the series balances its comedy with genuine emotional stakes around what binding a yokai actually costs. Every obligation she accepts costs Tomoe something he refuses to discuss.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Adapted from Julietta Suzuki's manga by TMS Entertainment, Kamisama Kiss built a substantial following on its blend of Shinto-inspired folklore, romantic comedy, and a genuinely well-developed central relationship. Its second season is generally regarded as an improvement on the first, advancing the romance that the earlier season largely circled. The franchise remains a frequently recommended gateway into shojo supernatural romance, valued for treating its yokai mythology with real affection rather than using it as decorative backdrop for the romance. Its folklore detail gives the romance a genuinely distinctive supernatural texture.
