Story

Synopsis

Ordinary high school student Goro Ono leads a quiet, detached life until his smartphone automatically downloads an enigmatic application called GOD.app. A robotic voice informs him that he has been selected as a Candidate for God, granting him a unique supernatural ability fueled by personal desires and karma. Thrust into a vicious battle royale against other smartphone users across Tokyo, Goro discovers that Candidates must hunt and kill each other to collect divine authority. Partnered with the aggressive and impulsive Honoka Sawa, Goro must utilize tactical cunning to survive against deranged rivals who will murder anyone to ascend to the celestial throne.

Conceived as an original television anime project featuring a creative concept by *NieR:Automata* director Yoko Taro, the 3D CGI series was animated by Unend and broadcast on Fuji TV's +Ultra block. Directed by Hiroyuki Seshita with character designs by Atsushi Ohkubo (*Fire Force*), the dark thriller deconstructs the death game genre through visceral action, psychological trauma, and nihilistic twists that examine human vanity in the smartphone era.
