BS Fuji launched December 1, 2000 as one of five commercial satellite stations that debuted simultaneously that year, owned by Fuji Satellite Broadcasting and, since April 2011, a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuji Media Holdings. Based in Odaiba, Minato, Tokyo, BS Fuji functions as Fuji TV's satellite counterpart, broadcasting a mix of general programming alongside some anime. *Terrestrial Fuji TV gets noitaminA and the ball-shaped headquarters fame; its satellite sibling handles a quieter, broader programming slate.* Compared to dedicated anime satellite channels like AT-X, BS Fuji's anime footprint is smaller and less specialized, existing more as one part of a general entertainment lineup than a fan-focused destination.
