Story
Synopsis
Sophie, a quiet young hat maker, is cursed by a jealous witch and transformed into an old woman overnight. Determined to break the spell, she seeks out Howl, a vain, powerful, and famously flighty wizard rumored to steal hearts, and ends up living in his bizarre, walking castle alongside a fire demon named Calcifer. As war looms over the kingdom and Howl's own secrets come to light, Sophie's unexpected new life forces her to find a courage and self-assurance she never had as her younger self. Howl no Ugoku Shiro, known internationally as Howl's Moving Castle, was directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli, based on Diana Wynne Jones's novel, and released theatrically in 2004.
