Story
Synopsis
Lelouch Lamperouge is an exiled Britannian prince living under a false name in occupied Japan when a mysterious girl grants him Geass, the power to compel absolute obedience with a single command. Adopting the identity of Zero, he begins assembling a rebellion against the empire that discarded him and his blind sister, using strategy, deception, and a willingness to spend lives that his idealistic friend Suzaku finds monstrous. The film condenses the opening stretch of the original series with new material. Every command he gives costs someone something, and he accepts that calculation immediately.

Produced by Sunrise as the first of three recap films retelling the original Code Geass television series, this entry made deliberate narrative alterations that would eventually enable the sequel film Lelouch of the Re;surrection. The original series is regarded as one of the most influential mecha anime of its era, celebrated for escalating political scheming and a protagonist whose methods grow genuinely monstrous.
