Story

Synopsis

Ran Mouri witnesses a shooting that leaves several police officers dead, and the trauma erases her memory entirely, including everything about her own life and the people in it. With a killer who knows she saw them still at large, Conan has to protect her while investigating a case where the only witness cannot remember anything and may be targeted the moment her memory returns. The film puts unusual emotional pressure on Conan, since Ran no longer recognizes anyone she loves. Every hour that passes brings her memory closer to returning dangerously.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
The fourth Detective Conan film, based on Gosho Aoyama's manga, Captured in Her Eyes is consistently ranked among the most beloved entries in the franchise, largely because it foregrounds the Shinichi and Ran relationship that the series usually keeps in the background. Its emotional stakes are considerably more personal than most Conan films manage. Early entries in the annual series are frequently cited as the strongest, valued for prioritizing character and deduction over the large-scale destruction that later films increasingly favored. Its personal stakes make it one of the most emotionally direct entries in the series.
