Synopsis

An immortal being is sent to Earth as a featureless orb capable of taking the form of anything that dies near it. It begins as a rock, then a wolf, then a boy, and with each new shape it absorbs a little more understanding of what living and dying actually mean. Traveling across centuries and continents, it gathers names, memories, and grief, slowly assembling something like a personality out of everyone it has lost. The story is fundamentally about learning empathy from scratch, and it is punishingly sad about how that education happens.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Adapted from Yoshitoki Ooima's manga, To Your Eternity comes from the creator of A Silent Voice and carries the same willingness to sit with emotional pain rather than resolve it quickly. Brain's Base handled this first season, which earned praise for its unusual structure, essentially a series of self-contained tragedies that accumulate into a larger story about consciousness and connection. The series became known for devastating its audience with remarkable consistency, particularly in its early arcs, and it remains one of the more thematically ambitious fantasy manga adaptations of its release period.
