Story
Synopsis
Erin grows up watching her mother care for the enormous armored beasts used in warfare, until an incident costs her everything and sends her fleeing alone. Raised afterward by a beekeeper, she eventually finds her way back to the creatures she was born around, discovering an ability to communicate with them that makes her both invaluable and dangerous to the political powers surrounding her. The story unfolds patiently across her entire childhood and adolescence, treating her growth, her curiosity, and her moral choices with unusual seriousness.
