Synopsis
Suzume meets a young man searching for doors across Japan, ancient portals that release disaster when opened. After she accidentally frees a keystone that seals them, he is transformed into her late mother's three-legged chair, and the two travel the country closing doors while pursued by a cat with its own agenda. The journey takes Suzume through abandoned towns and eventually toward the specific site of her own childhood loss, making the disaster-sealing plot inseparable from her unprocessed grief. Every door she closes brings her closer to one she has been avoiding.
