Story

Synopsis

Following his triumph at the National Middle School Tennis Tournament, twelve-year-old Japanese tennis phenom Ryoma Echizen travels to the United States to hone his athletic skills. While practicing in Los Angeles, Ryoma encounters his classmate Sakuno Ryuzaki being harassed by street gangsters. Deflecting tennis balls to protect her, their serves collide with mysterious antique tennis gear, triggering a spacetime rift that hurls both teenagers decades into the past. Arriving in America just days before his legendary father Nanjiro's mysterious retirement from professional tennis, Ryoma must challenge mafia syndicates on the court to preserve family history.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Animation studios Keica and The Monk Studios produced this energetic full 3D computer-animated sports feature film, released in Japanese theaters in September 2021 by GAGA. Conceived and supervised directly by original manga creator Takeshi Konomi, the film served as a canon bridge connecting the original *The Prince of Tennis* storyline with *The New Prince of Tennis*. Featuring vibrant musical song-and-dance sequences composed by Konomi himself alongside stylized superhuman tennis rallies, the movie gave dedicated franchise fans an exhilarating theatrical spectacle celebrating over two decades of Echizen family sports lore.
