Story
Synopsis
JP enters Redline, an illegal, no-rules race held once every five years, this time scheduled on a militarized planet whose government has explicitly forbidden it and intends to shoot everyone involved. Driving a car with no shielding and an absurd amount of raw power, JP competes against opponents equipped with weapons, transforming vehicles, and considerably better survival odds. The plot exists almost entirely to justify the racing, and the racing is delivered with a level of visual intensity that borders on physically overwhelming. Nothing about it slows down long enough for you to catch your breath.

Directed by Takeshi Koike and produced by Madhouse, Redline took roughly seven years to complete, with over a hundred thousand hand-drawn frames and no digital shortcuts, a decision that nearly bankrupted the production.
