Story

Synopsis

In postwar Japan, seven teenage boys are thrown together in a juvenile prison cell under a sadistic, corrupt guard who treats them as little more than punching bags. Despite the brutality surrounding them, the boys forge a fierce loyalty to one another, protecting the group's most vulnerable member and holding onto small acts of dignity and hope in an environment built to strip both away. As their sentences progress and eventually end, the story follows how their shared suffering shapes the men they become once released back into a country still rebuilding itself.
