Synopsis

This film condenses the fan-favorite Alabasta arc into a single feature. Princess Vivi's homeland is being torn apart by a rebellion secretly engineered by Crocodile, a smooth, deadly Warlord running the criminal syndicate Baroque Works. Traveling with the Straw Hats, Vivi races to stop a nationwide civil war before her people destroy themselves. That means Luffy must go toe-to-toe with Crocodile, a sand-wielding foe who does not just beat him but forces him to dig deep to win. It is desperation, desert heat, and one of the crew's most emotional early crusades, compressed into a movie-length retelling of a beloved chapter.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Episode of Alabasta: The Desert Princess and the Pirates is the eighth One Piece film, released in March 2007 by Toei Animation. Unlike the earlier non-canon movies, this one adapts an actual manga arc, the sprawling Alabasta saga, into a condensed theatrical retelling. Because it compresses so much story into a couple of hours, plenty of detail and subplots get trimmed, so purists often still prefer the fuller TV arc. Still, it stands as a milestone: the first One Piece movie to retell canon events rather than invent a side story, kicking off a trend of Episode of films that repackage classic arcs for the big screen.
