Synopsis

The Straw Hats enter the Dead End race, a secret, no-holds-barred competition where pirates sprint across the sea for a massive cash prize. But the course is brutal, the weather is murder, and a fearsome former Marine named Gasparde is running the show with a rigged, lethal plan of his own. As alliances form and betrayals surface, Luffy and crew push their ship to the limit while getting tangled up with a mysterious man and a young boy caught in Gasparde's web. It is a high-speed, high-stakes adventure film, arguably the strongest of the early One Piece movies, full of momentum and heart.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Dead End Adventure is the fourth One Piece film, released in March 2003 by Toei Animation. It is often singled out as a step up from the earlier movies, with a tighter story, stronger animation, and a genuinely menacing villain in Gasparde. Like its predecessors, it is non-canon and stands apart from the manga's continuity, made as a seasonal theatrical treat. Fans frequently rank it among the best of the pre-Strong World film era, precisely because it feels less like disposable filler and more like a complete, satisfying adventure. If you are sampling the early movies, this is a great one to start with.
