Story

Synopsis

A timid junior high student with an unfortunate sixth sense spends his days paralyzed by ordinary supernatural phenomena until he meets Mechako, an eccentric girl leading the ghost-hunting club known as Kaikigumi. Armed with bizarre homemade talismans and boundless confidence, Mechako recruits the frightened boy to investigate paranormal hotspots across town. From mischievous hallway specters to vengeful folk spirits, the reluctant protagonist must navigate chaotic urban legends alongside his fearless partner. As bizarre hauntings escalate across school grounds, he learns to confront uncanny phantoms while surviving Mechako's unpredictable exorcism methods.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Adapted from Byuu's popular supernatural comedy web manga serialized on the Omocoro platform, the television anime is produced by animation studio C-Station with direction by Yutaka Hirata. The production captures the original work's slapstick humor and distinctive horror parody aesthetic, blending eerie folklore with energetic character gags. Premiering in July 2026 across Japanese television networks and streaming platforms, the series earned strong praise for its quirky comedic timing, fluid character animation, and creative reimagining of traditional Japanese ghost stories.
