About the studio
Half H.P Studio started in 1984 as 81 Music Publishing Ltd., became HALF H·P LTD. in 1991, and settled on HALF H·P STUDIO in 1995. *That's three names in eleven years, which feels like a lot of business cards to reprint.* Based in Shibuya, Tokyo, it's a fully owned subsidiary of voice actor talent agency 81 Produce, and it works on the audio post-production side of anime: voice recording, sound mixing, and Japanese dubbing for foreign productions. Its credits include Pokémon, Yowamushi Pedal, BanG Dream!, The Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls, and the classic Hamtaro. Companies like Half H.P Studio rarely get the recognition that animation studios do, but without solid sound work, even the best animated frames fall flat. Four decades in, it remains one of the steady names behind the voices you hear, even if you've never once thought about who's actually running the recording booth.
