Synopsis
A year after the coalition war, Qin turns its ambitions toward Zhao, sending Kanki's forces, with Shin's Hi Shin Unit in support, to seize the strategically vital, heavily wooded Koku You Hill. What should be a difficult but manageable campaign spirals into chaos once battle begins inside the thick forest, scattering troops and stranding elite scout Kyou Kai's team deep behind enemy lines. Facing a cunning opposing command with its own dramatic backstory, Shin's unit has to fight smart, not just hard, in one of the series' most tense, geographically unusual battles yet.

Kingdom Season 5 is based on Yasuhisa Hara's manga, animated by Studio Signal MD, and aired from January 2024, adapting the Koku You Campaign arc and the Bureaucrats Job arc. Set roughly a year after the coalition army's invasion, it shifts the series' focus toward Qin's offensive campaigns against neighboring Zhao, using the unusual forested terrain of Koku You Hill to create some of the franchise's most claustrophobic, tactically distinct battle sequences. It continued Kingdom's reputation for grounding large-scale historical warfare in specific, carefully considered strategy rather than generic spectacle.
