Story
Synopsis
Rudo lives in the slums of the Sphere, a floating city where the wealthy discard objects that he considers priceless, and he spends his days salvaging what others throw into the Pit. When his adoptive father Regto is murdered and Rudo is falsely accused, he is thrown into the Pit himself and wakes on the Ground, an endless dump populated by monsters made of garbage. Saved by a Cleaner with supernatural abilities, he joins them, planning to return to the Sphere and take his revenge.

Adapted from Kei Urana's manga by Bones Film, Gachiakuta premiered in July 2025 and drew immediate attention for its aggressive graffiti-influenced art style and its explicitly class-conscious premise, in which disposal of waste and disposal of people are the same system. Urana previously worked as an assistant on Fire Force, and the series carries a similar visual intensity. Its combination of striking design work and genuine anger about inequality made it one of the more distinctive shonen debuts of its year. Its class-conscious premise gives the action genuine thematic weight throughout.
