Synopsis

Ippo Makunouchi keeps climbing the featherweight ranks, but New Challenger throws some of his fiercest opponents yet in his path, pushing his technique, endurance, and mental resolve harder than ever before. As his rivals grow smarter and more dangerous, Ippo has to evolve past raw power alone, learning to out-think opponents who have studied his every weakness. True to the franchise's reputation, every fight is meticulously choreographed and genuinely tense, treating each round as a real athletic and psychological battle rather than just another obstacle on the way to the next arc.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger is the second television season of the anime adaptation of George Morikawa's manga, produced by Madhouse, and airing from 2009 to 2010, following the original 2000 to 2002 series and a gap of several years. It continued the franchise's reputation for exceptionally researched, technically accurate boxing action, and was well received for maintaining the same patient character work and escalating tension that made the original series a genre benchmark. It further cemented Ippo's reputation as one of the most enduring and respected protagonists in sports anime history.
