Story

Synopsis

Denji, the chainsaw-fused devil hunter with the world's lowest bar for happiness (a good meal, a warm bed, maybe a girlfriend), finally seems to catch a break when he meets Reze, a sweet girl working at a coffee shop. Naturally, given this franchise, it cannot possibly be that simple. Reze is hiding a devastating secret that puts Denji in the fight of his life, forcing him to confront an enemy who understands exactly what makes him tick, both as a weapon and as a heartbroken teenager. It is brutal, tender, and typically merciless in the way only Chainsaw Man manages to be.

Chainsaw Man: The Movie: Reze Arc adapts the Bomb Girl arc from Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga, animated by MAPPA and directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, with a script by Hiroshi Seko. It premiered in Japanese theaters on September 19, 2025 and rolled out internationally through the following months, becoming one of the biggest anime film events of the year. Continuing directly from the 2022 television series, the movie was praised for its animation quality and for doing justice to one of the manga's most beloved and emotionally punishing story arcs, cementing Chainsaw Man's reputation as modern shonen at its rawest.
