Story

Synopsis

Ten-year-old Oshiri Kajiri Mushi XVIII is a bright, cheerful insect boy who attends Biting School to master his family's ancient trade. In his quirky community, biting people on the rear end is not an act of aggression, but a miraculous energetic blessing that revitalizes weary souls and cures emotional depression. Accompanied by his loving family and eccentric schoolmates, the enthusiastic bug wanders around Tokyo biting grumpy citizens, overwhelmed office workers, and stressed teachers, spreading infectious musical happiness and boundless positive energy wherever he chomps down.

Produced by animation studio Kinema Citrus, *Oshiri Kajiri Mushi* aired on NHK BS Premium in October 2012 under director Masayuki Kojima. The television adaptation expanded upon the viral novelty song and character created by music duo UrumaDelvi, which captured Japan's cultural imagination on NHK's *Minna no Uta* music program in 2007. Featuring catchy musical choreography and quirky slapstick humor, the series ran for multiple seasons, delighting children and families nationwide.
