Hatched magically from a mystical boulder upon a serene mountaintop, an energetic monkey named Son Goku earns leadership over his fellow primates through daring acrobatics. Unsatisfied with simple jungle dominance and wanting to prove himself superior to humans, the proud monkey seeks out a wise hermit, mastering incredible martial arts, cloud-riding sorcery, and magic staff combat. When his reckless hubris provokes the gods of Heaven, he is trapped beneath a mountain until the pious monk Tang Sanzang liberates him. In repentance, Goku accompanies the monk toward India, battling ferocious demons along the Silk Road.
