Synopsis
Europol detective Gesicht investigates a string of murders targeting the world's most advanced robots and the humans who championed robot rights, each killing marked by a strange, ritualistic detail involving horns. As the case deepens, it drags up buried history from a past war and raises uncomfortable questions about what separates artificial life from human life, and whether either side has really earned the moral high ground. The mystery unfolds slowly, favoring atmosphere and philosophical weight over action, building toward a reveal that reframes everything that came before it.

Adapted from Naoki Urasawa and Takashi Nagasaki's manga, itself a reimagining of a classic Astro Boy story arc by Osamu Tezuka, Pluto is widely considered one of the finest science fiction manga adaptations ever produced, and this Studio M2 anime version, released via Netflix, was praised for translating that reputation faithfully to screen.
