Synopsis

Heart of Gold sends the Straw Hats chasing the legendary Pure Gold, an impossibly valuable treasure tied to a girl named Olga, who alone knows how to reach it. Their guide leads them toward the mysterious Alchemi region, but they are not the only ones hunting: the ruthless, treasure-obsessed Mad Treasure is hot on the trail too. Cue a race across a strange sea, uneasy alliances, and Olga's own guarded secrets. It is a fast, glitzy adventure special that leans into greed, gold, and grand set pieces, serving as a lead-in to the flashy world of One Piece Film: Gold.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Heart of Gold is a feature-length One Piece television special produced by Toei Animation and aired in 2016, created as a tie-in and prelude to the theatrical One Piece Film: Gold. Its story connects to the film's themes of treasure and greed, helping build hype ahead of the movie's release. Like the franchise's other TV specials, it is an anime-original tale that sits outside the manga's canon continuity. It is aimed at fans eager for more of the crew's glamorous, high-stakes escapades, offering a self-contained gold-rush adventure that pairs neatly with Film: Gold without being required viewing for the main story.
