Synopsis

This is a short prologue attached to the television broadcast of the Alabasta film, and it fills in an important gap: how the Straw Hats first crossed paths with Princess Vivi. In roughly fifteen minutes, it condenses the Whisky Peak arc, the crew's early, chaotic run-in with the secret agents of Baroque Works, into a quick catch-up that sets the stage for the desert kingdom saga. Think of it as an on-ramp: a brisk scene-setter designed to prime viewers before the main Alabasta story unfolds. Short and focused, it exists to make sure nobody starts the big adventure without knowing exactly why Vivi matters.

Episode of Alabasta - Prologue was created for the TV airing of Toei Animation's Alabasta film, which retold the popular Alabasta arc in condensed movie form. When the movie was broadcast on Japanese television in 2011, this fresh fifteen-minute prologue was added to the front, newly animating an abridged Whisky Peak arc to explain how Luffy's crew met Vivi. The underlying Alabasta storyline is canon in the manga, but this specific prologue is a supplementary anime production made for the broadcast cut.
