Synopsis

The Straw Hats meet Amanda, a girl whose late father, a treasure hunter, tattooed the map to a legendary fortune onto her back. Trouble is, the villainous Bayan Pirates want that treasure too, and their boss can bend people to his will using the eerie power of his singing crew. When Luffy and Amanda get captured, it turns personal: Bayan is the very man who killed her father. Cue a rescue, a clever assist from Usopp to silence the sinister choir, and a combined Straw Hat beatdown. In the end, the island opens up to reveal a giant clam and its shining pearl. Dream fulfilled.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Open Upon the Great Sea! A Father's Huge, HUGE Dream! is the second One Piece television special, produced by Toei Animation and aired in 2003, after episode 149 of the anime. Like the franchise's other TV specials, it tells a self-contained, anime-original story outside the manga's continuity, using the beloved crew for a one-off tale built around family, dreams, and the open sea, recurring pillars of Oda's world. It carries no canon weight and will not change your grasp of the main arcs. Specials like this simply exist to give fans a little extra time with the Straw Hats, delivering the series' signature emotional beats in one tidy sitting.
