Three sci-fi visions explore the depths of human nature.
Synopsis
Executive produced by Katsuhiro Otomo, this landmark three-part science fiction anthology presents three distinctive animated visions. In Magnetic Rose, deep space salvage workers explore a derelict orbital habitat governed by the holographic phantom of a tragic opera singer. In Stink Bomb, a clumsy laboratory technician accidentally ingests an experimental biochemical pill, turning his body into a walking weapon of mass odor that paralyzes central Japan. Finally, in Cannon Fodder, a dystopian steampunk walled metropolis spends its entire daily existence firing colossal industrial artillery cannons into a barren, unseen wasteland under totalitarian regime orders.

One of the few truly unforgettable anime releases of 2004.
Read full reviewMagnetic Rose is well-told and excellently animated, Stink Bomb is amusing and inventive, but Cannon Fodder's intriguing imagery really leads nowhere. Combined as an anthology, it's worthwhile viewing for the anime fan who wants something to think about.
Read full reviewThis 1995 anthology is back on RetroCrush and brings together anime industry giants Katsuhiro Otomo, Satoshi Kon, Yoko Kanno, and Tensai Okamura. Hence there's a lot of premium talent at work in this project, and it shows in the results.
