Synopsis

A politician is poisoned, and the trail leads Conan to a mountain village slated for destruction by dam construction, where a decade-old landslide killed several people and left grievances that never settled. Cut off by snow and an avalanche, the investigation proceeds with a limited suspect pool and mounting physical danger from the mountain itself. The film pairs its mystery with sustained environmental peril, and the motive turns out to be rooted in institutional decisions rather than individual malice. Every suspect has a reason, and the mountain keeps narrowing the available time.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
The fifteenth Detective Conan film, based on Gosho Aoyama's manga, Quarter of Silence released in 2011 and drew notice for its subject matter involving construction, displacement, and disaster, released the same month as the Tohoku earthquake. The annual Conan film series has run for decades as one of the most commercially reliable fixtures in Japanese cinema, alternating between action-heavy spectacle and more grounded mysteries. Entries with a strong sense of place, like this one, tend to be well regarded among longtime viewers. Its grounded setting gives the mystery more weight than pure spectacle would.
