About the studio
Kansai TV traces back to a February 1958 founding as Dai Kansai TV Broadcasting, formed out of a 1957 merger between two competing broadcast license applicants, renamed Kansai Telecasting Corporation that same year and beginning broadcasts in November 1958. It took the shorter Kansai Television name in 2018. Based in Kita-ku, Osaka, Kansai TV is the Kansai region's key station for the Fuji News Network and Fuji Network System, affiliated with both Fuji Media Holdings and Hankyu Hanshin Holdings as part of the wider Hankyu Hanshin Toho Group. *Being backed by two major conglomerates at once is a pretty comfortable position for a regional broadcaster.* It airs and co-produces anime for its region, including through dedicated anime programming timeslots. Nearly 70 years since its founding, Kansai TV remains a crucial piece of how Tokyo-produced anime and Fuji TV's programming actually reach viewers in western Japan.
