Biography
Jin Aketagawa is a Japanese sound director born August 7, 1972, who has spent his career at Magic Capsule, the sound-production company founded by his father, sound director Susumu Aketagawa, who remains its representative [1]. Jin started out doing music selection on mid-1990s titles such as Bonobono and Elf wo Karu Monotachi before moving into sound direction of his own [1]. Since then his filmography has shown consistent work on the Shokugeki no Soma, Re:Zero, and A Certain Scientific franchises [1], the family drama Fruits Basket, the survival series Dr. Stone, and Enen no Shouboutai (Fire Force) [2], as well as, more recently, the Golden Kamuy theatrical continuation and Aldnoah.Zero's 2025 sequel, Aldnoah.Zero (Re+) [3]. As sound director, Aketagawa is responsible for casting voice actors, guiding recording sessions, and shaping how a series ultimately sounds, work that rarely draws public attention but is central to how an anime lands emotionally. In a retrospective interview column about Magic Capsule's history, his father recalled that work at the studio historically came through his own and Jin's personal industry connections, a small window into how a family-run sound studio has carried its work into a new generation of hit titles [4].
