About the studio
Yomiko Advertising's founding date depends on how you count it: 1929 as an original founding, or July 11, 1946 as its formal incorporation. Either way, it's one of Japan's oldest advertising agencies, based in Chuo, Tokyo, and its anime involvement stretches back to 1965's Space Ace, one of its earliest production-committee credits. *Nearly a century in advertising and still finding new franchises to help finance.* Yomiko later worked on media-mix projects tied to Fujiko Fujio and Fujio Akatsuka properties, including Osomatsu-kun and Heisei Genius Bakabon. In 2003, Yomiko joined Hakuhodo and Daiko to form holding company Hakuhodo DY Holdings, and it remains a subsidiary of that group today. Like most ad agencies in anime credits, Yomiko's role isn't creative, it's financial and promotional, but that funding has quietly kept franchises running since well before most currently active studios even existed.
