About the studio
Studio Deen was founded March 14, 1975 by Hiroshi Hasegawa, a former Sunrise producer, along with a handful of ex-Sunrise animators. The name is a nod to Sunrise's Brave Raideen, which tells you exactly where its founders' hearts were. Based in Tokyo, Studio Deen has built a long, varied catalog: the 2001 Fruits Basket, the slow-burn horror of Higurashi When They Cry, and the 2006 Fate/stay night adaptation all carry its name. *Not every studio needs one signature genre to matter,* and Deen has spent 50 years proving that. Since April 2011, it's operated as a subsidiary of IMA Group. Half a century after its founding, Studio Deen remains one of those steady, dependable names in the credits, the kind of studio that's been part of anime fandom's collective memory for so long it's easy to forget it's still actively working today.
